The Course

Swim – 1.5 km Olympic & 750 meters Sprint

We have changed the swim course into a small triangular course within the City Swim Buoys instead of straight out and back, starting from the Ironman Beach as before, and returning to it.

Waves start 5 minutes apart for the Olympic distance and the Sprint starts 15 minutes after the second Olympic wave. The course is marked by buoys along the way and is patrolled by kayakers and canoeists. View Map >

Bike – 40 km Olympic & 20 km Sprint

From the transition area, cyclists head west along Lakeshore drive, past the SS Sicamous and up Lakeshore Drive to a loop just before Highway 97. Then back along Riverside and Lakeshore & up Vancouver Hill. At the top of the hill, cyclists will do an out & back loop using Middle Bench & Tupper intersections, then will travel North Naramata Road to the turn point at Painted Rock, then directly back to Penticton. The course is very scenic but very challenging.

Sprint distance is same as above, but turn at 20 km mark located approximately 1980 Naramata Road. View Map >

NEW RUN COURSE for 2010

Run – 10 km Olympic & 5 km Sprint

We have changed the run course this year to a loop course.

From the transition area, runners head west along Lakeshore Drive and Riverside Drive before turning onto Westminster Ave at HWY 97. Follow Westminster Avenue to Power Street, turn left, run to Dynes Avenue, turn left and follow Dynes to Riverside. Turn right, then turn right again in 70m onto Churchill Avenue. Follow to the turnaround at #944 Churchill. Come back to Riverside Drive, turn right and continue onto Lakeshore Drive back to transition.

Olympic distance athletes will do 2 loops of the course and Sprint distance athletes will do 1 loop. View Map >
